First, tell us about yourself.
I am Wadha Salem Al-Hatam Al-Amri, born in 1984. I hold an Advanced Diploma from the University of Dubai and a Bachelor's degree in Arabic Language and Islamic Studies Education. I currently work as a Grade 1 subject teacher at the Ministry of Education, and I am pursuing my Master’s degree in Fiqh and its Fundamentals.
Tell us about your academic journey. What does Al Ain University mean to you?
My academic journey has been filled with passion and determination. Joining Al Ain University was a turning point in my life. The university opened a valuable window of knowledge for me, offering academic, professional, and personal growth. I graduated with distinction and was included in the honor roll. This experience laid the foundation for my professional identity and instilled in me the belief that education is not just a profession, but a noble mission that demands dedication and continuous development.
What has your professional journey been like? How has your career developed?
After earning my Bachelor's degree, I began my career as a teacher, where I had the opportunity to apply what I had learned in practice. I focused on creating positive relationships with my students and using diverse teaching strategies to meet their different needs. I continuously refined my academic skills to enhance student performance and improve the overall quality of education.
Why did you choose your field of study? What are your future ambitions?
I chose to specialize in teaching Arabic because I believe that language is the vessel of identity, a bridge of culture, and the foundation of thought. I grew up loving the Arabic language and was always captivated by its beauty and eloquence. I feel a deep responsibility to preserve and promote it among future generations. Through teaching, I help students develop their expression and comprehension skills, contributing to the growth of confident and educated individuals. In the future, I aspire to further develop myself professionally and academically, contribute to curriculum development that reflects cultural identity, and participate in initiatives that support reading and creative writing among students.
How has studying at Al Ain University supported your professional growth?
My time at Al Ain University was fundamental in shaping my career as a teacher. The university provided a comprehensive learning environment that blended deep theoretical knowledge with practical field training, giving me a well-rounded understanding of education.
Have you participated in any volunteer or community work?
Yes, by the grace of God, I provide financial support to help educate children from low-income families. I prefer to keep these acts private, seeking only the reward from Allah.
In your opinion, what is the role of graduates towards their university and community?
A graduate's relationship with the university doesn't end at graduation—it marks the beginning of a new phase of mutual responsibility. Graduates are ambassadors of their university in the workforce and society. Their roles include:
- Representing the university in a positive and professional manner.
- Supporting university events and academic activities.
- Providing feedback to help enhance academic programs.
- Guiding and mentoring current students or offering training opportunities.
Based on your experience, how can one achieve balance between personal and professional life?
In my experience, achieving balance between work, personal life, health, and culture doesn't happen by chance—it requires awareness, organization, and consistent effort. As a teacher, I’ve learned that time management is key. Prioritization, flexibility, and faith are essential to maintaining this balance.
Tell us about your achievements.
I successfully completed the academic phase of my Master’s program with distinction and am currently working on my thesis, hoping for Allah’s guidance and success. I also passed the first phase of the Teacher Licensing exam and am awaiting the results of the final assessment.
With your experience, what key principles should students and graduates follow?
They should hold onto: sincere intention, a clear goal, self-discipline, respect for time, and a commitment to lifelong learning and development across all areas.
A final word to the university’s graduates?
Today, you stand at the threshold of a new chapter. As you leave the halls of academia, you carry with you knowledge, experience, and memories that will stay with you for life.
Graduation is not the end—it is the beginning of a meaningful journey in the real world. This journey requires patience, continuous learning, sincerity in work, and trust in Allah—and in yourselves. You are the hope of the future, so rise to the occasion.
