Sghaira Amer Bin Suwaidan Al Mansouri - Legal Leader and Expert in Commercial Dispute Resolution

Tell us about yourself:
I am Sghaira Amer Bin Suwaidan Al Mansoori. I graduated from Al Ain University with a Bachelor’s degree in Law, and continued my postgraduate studies at the same university, earning a Master’s degree in Public Law, which provided me with a solid legal foundation across various branches of law.
I currently serve as an Arbitration and Reconciliation Consultant at the Abu Dhabi Commercial Conciliation and Arbitration Center, and I am now the Head of the Legal Follow-up Department in the Legal and Government Affairs Sector at the Department of Municipalities and Transport.

 

Tell us about your academic journey and what Al Ain University means to you:
To further develop my academic knowledge, I continued my higher studies at Zagazig University in the Egypt, where I earned a Ph.D. in Public International Law. My dissertation focused on “The Protection of Intellectual and Literary Property under Public International Law.” This stage enabled me to delve deeply into the study of international laws and intellectual property protection agreements, in addition to strengthening my research and analytical skills.
Al Ain University represents the true starting point of my academic and legal journey. It was the environment that shaped my scholarly character and provided me with a strong foundation in public law. I learned the values of commitment, research, and analysis there, it was the gateway that opened vast horizons for my postgraduate studies and helped me build a balanced legal vision that combines both academic and practical dimensions.


Tell us about your professional journey and career development:
I began my professional career as an Assistant Legal Researcher, then became an Arbitration and Conciliation Consultant at the Abu Dhabi Commercial Conciliation and Arbitration Centre,
part of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce. There, I participated in resolving contractual disputes by overseeing the management of both national and international arbitration and conciliation cases.
Currently, as Head of the Legal Follow-up Department, I contribute to enhancing the efficiency of legal operations, monitoring litigation and judicial procedures, and improving coordination
mechanisms between relevant departments.

 

Why did you choose to specialize in law, and what are your future ambitions?
I chose to specialize in Public International Law with a focus on Intellectual and Literary Property because it combines my passion for law and the protection of creativity. It also allows me to understand and apply international legal frameworks for protecting intellectual and literary rights—an increasingly vital field in our modern era.
My future aspirations are to:
 Deepen my academic and professional expertise in this field.
 Contribute to strengthening the implementation of international intellectual property
law within state institutions.
 Pass on legal knowledge to new generations of legal professionals.
 Participate in drafting legal policies that support innovation and protect intellectual and
literary rights.


How did Al Ain University support you in your career path?
My studies at Al Ain University directly contributed to my professional development by enhancing my legal and practical skills, strengthening my ability to bridge academic theory with practical application, and helping me excel in my performance while adding value to my work environment.


Tell us about your volunteer and community involvement:
I have participated in several legal and awareness initiatives aimed at promoting legal culture, enhancing awareness of rights and responsibilities, and supporting the community through specialized educational programs.


In your opinion, what is the graduate’s role toward the university and society?
The graduate’s role toward their university is to:

 Apply the knowledge and skills they have gained.
 Promote legal awareness.

How do you maintain balance between social and professional life?
I achieve balance by organizing my time and setting prioritie, allocating dedicated time for work, family, and rest; focusing on health and cultural engagement; and maintaining psychological balance, which positively reflects on both professional and social performance.

 

What are the essential pillars that a student or graduate should rely on?
A student or graduate should rely on three main pillars:
1. Knowledge and continuous legal learning to keep up with real-world developments and
future challenges.
2. Practical and applied skills that enable the translation of knowledge into effective
performance in the workplace.
3. Professional ethics, which enhance competence and build trust in professional
relationships.


A final message to university graduates:
I want to tell the university graduates: make your knowledge a tool for shaping the future—pursue your journey with confidence and determination. You are the ambassadors of your university in the professional world and bear the responsibility of creating positive change in your community. I would also add that success does not end with earning a degree; it begins there. Keep striving
and evolving—be role models of commitment and excellence. With knowledge and hard work, nations are built, and ambitions are achieved.
