Workshop "Be ready for the job market": enhancing the skills of students expected to graduate to enter the job market professionally
Within the framework of Al Ain University's endeavor to provide students with everything that helps them to excel in the labor market, the alumni office and the Deanship of Student Affairs, in cooperation with Injaz UAE, organized a workshop entitled "Be ready for the labor market", which was held on Thursday, November 14, 2024. The workshop aimed to introduce students to the most important skills needed to enter the labor market effectively, and witnessed a remarkable attendance of more than 80 students, in addition to a number of faculty and administrative staff at the University.
As part of Al Ain University's efforts to equip students with everything that helps them excel in the labor market, the Alumni Office and the Deanship of Student Affairs, in collaboration with Injaz UAE, organized a workshop entitled "Be Ready for the Job Market." The workshop was held on Thursday, November 14, 2024, and aimed to introduce students to the essential skills needed to effectively enter the job market. The event witnessed a remarkable attendance of more than 80 students, along with several faculty and administrative members from the university.
The workshop was led by Reem Nabil, who is a Coach trainer and Career Advisor, addressed several key topics during the workshop, where the conversation began about how to prepare for the job, and the importance of looking for a job that suits personal skills and interests. She stressed that awareness of available job opportunities and the ability to adapt to market requirements are the basis for success in the job search journey.
The workshop also addressed the importance of preparing for the job application process, highlighting the need to create a professional resume that effectively reflects experiences and skills. Reem stressed focusing on elements that showcase an applicant’s ability to take responsibility and adapt to the work environment.
Regarding job interviews, she underscored the significance of thorough preparation, including knowing the details of the job and company one is applying to, developing the skills necessary to handle challenging questions, and effectively highlighting positive personal attributes and professional capabilities.
The session also touched on the importance of updating one’s LinkedIn profile or creating an account if not already available. Reem explained how this platform can serve as a bridge for connecting with professionals and employers, providing insights on how to utilize it effectively to capture the attention of companies and expand one's professional network.
The workshop witnessed significant interaction between the speaker and attendees, with students asking various questions and seeking clarification about the challenges of entering the job market. This added a practical and engaging dimension to the session.
