Tell us about yourself.
My name is Engineer Abdullah Ghanem Al Blooshi. I graduated from Al Ain University in 2022 with a degree in Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences. I am passionate about developing the infrastructure sector in the United Arab Emirates and contributing to the growth of businesses and partnerships within this field.
Tell us about your academic journey. What does Al Ain University mean to you?
Al Ain University represents an integral part of my professional journey. My academic experience provided me with a strong foundation in engineering and helped prepare me for the challenges of the labor market. The university played an important role in shaping my skills and ambitions, and I am proud to be one of its graduates.
Tell us about your professional journey and career growth.
After graduation, I gradually progressed in the job market within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. I began my career in the private sector, working in infrastructure as a contractor for urban road projects in Al Ain City. Later, I joined a global company as part of its project supervision team. Building on these experiences, I then joined the Abu Dhabi Projects and Infrastructure Centre as a Capital Projects Manager.
Why did you choose your major, and what are your future aspirations?
Civil Engineering is a comprehensive field that covers many areas within the engineering sector. For me, it aligns perfectly with my interests and ambitions to contribute to the development and prosperity of Abu Dhabi’s infrastructure sector. My future goal is to continue supporting the growth of infrastructure projects and creating sustainable value for the community.
How did your studies at Al Ain University support your professional career?
My experience at Al Ain University was outstanding. The university strengthened students’ connection with the labor market during their studies, which helped us understand the responsibilities and expectations of civil engineers before entering the workforce.
Tell us about your volunteer and community activities, if any.
I have participated in several volunteer activities, but one of the most notable was contributing to the organization of the Abu Dhabi Infrastructure Summit, one of the largest infrastructure events in the UAE.
In your opinion, what is the role of alumni toward their university and society?
Alumni play an important role in sharing their positive experiences and demonstrating how the university contributed to their professional success. They can also provide valuable suggestions and feedback that may benefit future students. In society, alumni can contribute through their expertise, community engagement, and professional achievements.
Based on your personal experience, how can a balance be achieved between social life and professional life?
Achieving a balance between professional and social life is a skill that develops over time through experience. Personally, I believe that having a clear plan for each aspect of life helps significantly in achieving goals across professional, personal, health, and cultural areas.
Tell us about the achievements and awards you have received.
One of my proudest achievements is contributing to the delivery of two of the largest projects in Al Ain City: the Tawam Tunnel Project and the Zakher Tunnel Project, in addition to several major projects in Abu Dhabi.
Based on your experience, what are the key principles that students and graduates should focus on?
Graduates should have a clear vision of their goals and develop a plan to achieve them. At the same time, they should remain flexible and adaptable to changes in the workplace and labor market demands. Opportunities are always available, but they require dedication, continuous self-development, and hard work.

Al Ain University graduates are distinguished individuals who have proven their capabilities across various sectors of the labor market. I wish them continued success and prosperity, and I look forward to meeting them at future occasions and events.
